
Amartuvshin Enkhbat, Jamie Barton, Susan Graham, Kang Wang, Brandon Jovanovich & Levy Sekgapane Lead San Francisco Opera’s 2025-26 Season

The company is set to present its “Opera Ball,” co-presented with the San Francisco Opera Guild.
Performance Date: Sept. 5, 2025
The season opens with Verdi’s “Rigoletto” with Eun Sun Kim conducting the work. Amartuvshin Enkhbat leads the cast in the title role alongside Adela Zaharia, Giovanni Sala, J’Nai Bridges, and Peixin Chen. Jose Maria Condemi directs San Francisco Opera’s production.
Performance Dates: Sept. 5–27, 2025
The San Francisco Opera is set to present “Opera in the Park,” the annual free concert at Robin Williams Meadow in Golden Gate Park. The concert features the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and vocal soloists from the 2025–26 Season under the baton of Eun Sun Kim.
Performance Dates: Sept. 7, 2025
Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally’s “Dead Man Walking” returns to the stage where it all began. Commissioned by San Francisco Opera, the opera will be presented in Leonard Foglia’s production featuring Jamie Barton, Susan Graham, Ryan McKinny, Brittany Renee, Rod Gilfry, Raymond Aceto, Chad Shelton, and Nikola Printz. Patrick Summer conducts.
Performance Dates: Sept. 14–28, 2025
Wagner’s “Parsifal” will get a new production by Matthew Ozawa. Eun Sun Kim conducts a cast that includes Brandon Jovanovich, Kwangchul Youn, Brian Mulligan, Tanja Baumgartner, and Falk Struckmann.
Performance Dates: Oct. 25–Nov. 13, 2025
Eun Sun Kim conducts Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and Manuel de Falla’s “Siete Canciones Populares Españolas” with mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack as soloist and a suite of dances from Falla’s ballet “El Sombrero de Tres Picos.”
Performance Date: Nov. 1, 2025
Composer Huang Ruo and librettist David Henry Hwang’s new opera “The Monkey King (猴王悟空)” will make its world premiere. Commissioned by San Francisco Opera in partnership with the Chinese Heritage Foundation of Minnesota, the opera will be conducted by Carolyn Kuan and directed by Diane Paulus. The opera will star Kang Wang, Mei Gui Zhang, Konu Kim, Jusung Gabriel Park, Peixin Chen, Joo Won Kang, and Hongni Wu.
Performance Dates: Nov. 14–30, 2025
Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will star Joshua Hopkins, Justin Austin, Levy Sekgapane, Jack Swanson, Maria Kataeva, Hongni Wu, Renato Girolami, Patrick Carfizzi, and Riccardo Fassi. Benjamin Manis conducts the production by Emilio Sagi.
Performance Dates: May 28–June 21, 2026
Elena Pankratova, Michaela Schuster, and Elza van den Heever star in Strauss’ “Elektra.” Eun Sun Kim conducts the production by Keith Warner.
