The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia is set to present “Pan y Toros” starting on Nov. 4, 2023.

The zarzuela by Francisco Asenjo Barbieri will be presented in a production by Juan Echanove with Guillermo García Calvo conducting. The cast includes Ruth Iniesta, Borja Quiza, Carol García, Enrique Viana, Pedro Mari Sánchez, and Amparo Navarro, among others.

“Asenjo Barbieri is one of the great composers of the genre, who has already obtained great recognition from Les Arts’ audience with the premiere of ‘El Barberillo de Lavapiés’ in 2021. ‘Pan y toros’ is an indispensable work, a complex one, that we will present with the greatest artist efforts to commemorate this masterwork,” said Les Arts’ artistic director Jesús Iglesias Noriega at a press conference.

The zarzuela runs through Nov. 12, 2023.
