Lea Desandre, Sinead Campbell Wallace, Catherine Foster & Jean-François Borras Lead Opéra de Dijon’s 2023-24 Season

France’s Opéra de Dijon has announced its 2023-24 season. Here are the operatic and vocal concerts.

Opera

Händel’s “Ariodante” is set to star Lea Desandre, Ana Maria Labin, Ana Vieira Leite, Hugh Cutting, Kresimir Spicer, Moritz Kallenberg, and Renato Dolcini. William Christie conducts.

Performance Date: Oct. 15, 2023

Beethoven’s “Fidelio” will star Sinead Campbell Wallace, Maximilian Schmitt, Martina Russomanno, Mischa Schelomianski, Aleksei Isaev, Edwin Crossley Mercer, and Léo Vermot Desroches. Adrien Perruchon conducts a production by Cyril Teste.

Performance Dates: Nov. 8-12, 2023

Reynaldo Hahn and Sacha Guitry’s “Ô mon bel inconnu” will be performed by Marc Labonnette, Clémence Tilquin, Sheva Tehoval, Émeline Bayart, Victor Sicard, Jean-François Novelli, and Carl Ghazarossian. Samuel Jean conducts the production by Émeline Bayart.

Fiona Monbet conducts Othman Louati’s “Les Ailes du désir” in a production by Johanny Bert. Marie-Laure Garnier and Romain Dayez are the soloists.

Puccini’s “Turandot” will star Catherine Foster, Adriana González, Kristian Benedikt, and Mischa Schelomianski. Domingo Hindoyan conducts a production by Emmanuelle Bastet.

Stéphane Degout, Siobhan Stagg, and Laurence Kilsby star in Schubert’s “L’Autre voyage.” Raphaël Pichon conducts the production by Silvia Costa.

Leonardo García Alarcón conducts Bach’s “St John Passion” with Sasha Waltz directing. Sophie Junker, Christian Immler, Benno Schachtner, Valerio Contaldo, and Mark Milhofe star.

Performance Dates: March 30 & 31, 2024

Monica Zanettin stars in Puccini’s “Tosca” with Jean-François Borras and Dario Solari. Debora Waldman conducts the production by Dominique Pitoiset.

Concerts 

Solen Mainguené, Anke Vondung, Léo Vermot Desroches, and Derrick Ballard star in Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Joseph Bastian conducts.

Sopranos Julie Roset, Camille Allérat, and Ana Vieira Leite perform in a concert entitled “La Néréide.”

Philippe Herreweghe conducts Mozart’s Requiem and Symphony No. 35 with soloists Marie Eriksmoen, Eva Zaïcik, Ilker Arcayürek, and Samuel Hasselhorn

Raphaël Pichon conducts Mendelssohn’s Elijah” with the Ensemble Pygmalion. Soloists include Stéphane Degout, Siobhan Stagg, Ema Nikolovska, Thomas Atkins, and Julie Roset.

Sabine Devieilhe & Mathieu Pordoy perform in recital music by d’Alban Berg, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Hugo Wolf, and Richard Strauss.

Étienne Meyer conducts Monteverdi’s “Vêpres” with soloists Capucine Keller, Dagmar Saskova, Maximiliano Baños, Vincent Bouchot, François-Nicolas Geslot, and Renaud Delaigue.
