Laura Wilde, Brandie Sutton & Janai Brugger Lead Opera Theatre of Saint Louis’ 2023 Season

The Opera Theatre of Saint Louis has announced its 2023 season.

The season opens with “Treemonisha,” Scott Joplin’s landmark opera. The work will see an expanded version, reimagined for the modern day with an added prologue and epilogue by composer Damien Sneed and librettist Karen Chilton. Charlotte Brathwaite directs the opera with George Manahan conducting. The cast includes Justin Austin, Brandie Sutton, Tichina Vaughn, and Norman Garrett.

Performance Dates: May 20-June 24, 2023

Puccini’s “Tosca” continues the season in a production by OTSL Artistic Director James Robinson and Daniela Candillari, OTSL’s Principal Conductor, leading the orchestra. Laura Wilde sings the title role alongside Robert Stahley and Hunter Enoch.

Performance Dates: May 27-June 25, 2023

Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” will be directed by Tara Branham and conducted by Jeri Lynne Johnson.

Performance Dates: June 4-23, 2023

Floyd’s “Susannah” will be directed by our Artistic Director of Young Artist Programs Patricia Racette, and conducted by Gemma New. The cast will include Janai Brugger, Frederick Ballantine, and William Guanbo Su.

Performance Dates: June 10-24, 2023

There will also be Black Music Month Celebration with Damien Sneed as the curator

Performance Date: TBA

Center Stage will be a Young Artist Showcase with conductor Daniela Candillari and curators Patricia Racette and James Robinson.
