
Laura Strickling to Headline String Orchestra of Brooklyn’s ‘Tragic Love Stories’ Concert
By David SalazarThe String Orchestra of Brooklyn will present an evening of tragic love stories on Saturday, May 30 at St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn Heights.
Conductor Eli Spindel leads the program, which features soprano Laura Strickling, includes Herrmann’s “Vertigo Suite,” Korngold’s “Marietta’s Lied” from “Die Tote Stadt,” Berlioz’s “Scène d’amour” from “Roméo et Juliette,” and Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture.”
Strickling is a two-time Grammy nominee for Best Classical Vocal Solo Album and created the title role in Tom Cipullo’s opera “The Parting.” She has performed as soloist with orchestras including the Seattle Symphony and the San Antonio Philharmonic.
The showcase kicks off at 8 p.m. local time.
