
Laura Fortino Takes Home First Prize at XII International Lyric Competition San Francesco Di Paola

Soprano Laura Fortino was awarded first prize. Soprano Roberta Panuccio took home second prize and third prize went to tenor Sanlin Wang and Forooz Razavi. The prize for best performance of an aria by a Calabrian composer went to tenor Nile Senatore.
Scholarships for the first, second and third place are € 2,500, € 2,000, and € 1,500. Other scholarships awarded are € 300 each. All finalists are invited to the Amici del Loggione del Teatro alla Scala concert.
Many other special prizes were given by Royal Opera House Muscat, Teatro Sociale di Como, and the Mediterranean Philharmonic Academy, among others. Recipients of these awards include Laura Fortino, Louisa Khoury, Forooz Razavi, Gianpiero Delle Grazie, Sanlin Wang, Nile Senator, and Roberta Panuccio.
The event was led by Dr. Giusy Ferrara. The official pianist for the competition was Amedeo Salvato. The jury consisted of Luigi Stillo, Vincenzo de Vivo Artistic, Gianluca Marcianò, Raffaella Murdolo, Marco Tutino, Antonietta Santacroce, and Giovanni Vegeto.
The competition is open to opera singers up to 35 years old. This year the competition was held for the first
time at Teatro Politeama of Catanzaro from June 8-10.
