Latino Theater Company to Present ‘Ghost Waltz’

By David Salazar

Latino Theater Company is set to present Oliver Mayer’s “Ghost Waltz” starting on April 25.

The work is directed by Alberto Barboza and conducted by Alberto López. It stars Quetzal Guerrero, Ric’key Pageot, Nathalie Peña-Comas, Eduardo Robledo, Cástulo Guerra, Ariel Brown, and Monte Escalante.

The music drama tells the story of iconic composer Juventino Rosas, an Indigenous musician whose works were attributed to Europeans and whose story was largely neglected for centuries.

“It’s a mix of music, magic, drama, passion, spirituality and dance in a celebration that explores the lives of people of color during the emerging Americas of the late 19th century and their ghostlike impact on our own lives today,” says the official website of Latino Theater Company.

“Ghost Waltz” runs through June 2, 2024.
