The Los Angeles Opera is set to present a free live simulcast of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” on Sept. 21, 2024 at two outdoor locations.

Audiences will get to take in the tragic work at the El Cariso Community Regional Park and Santa Monica Pier. This is the second time that LA Opera does a simulcast at El Cariso Community Regional Park and the 11th “Opera at the Beach at Santa Monica Pier.

The opera stars Karah Son in her LA debut as Cio-Cio San alongside tenor Jonathan Tetelman as Pinkerton. James Conlon conducts.

“Watching opera under the stars is a magical, uniquely LA experience. This season, I’m thrilled to see Madame Butterfly shared with even more Third District communities through simulcasts at the Santa Monica Pier and El Cariso Park in Sylmar,” said Lindsey P. Horvath, Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors representing the Third District, in an official press release. “Get your picnic ready and invite your friends and neighbors for this free showing on September 21. Team Horvath and LA Opera will see you there!”
