La Monnaie / de Munt is set to present Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Henry VIII” starting on May 11, 2023.

Alain Altinoglu conducts a cast starring Lionel Lhote, Ed Lyon, Vincent Le Texier, Enguerrand De Hys, Werner Van Mechelen, Jérôme Varnier, Marie-Adeline Henry, Nora Gubisch, and Claire Antoine, among many others.

The production, which is directed by Olivier Py, was originally set to open in 2021 to commemorate the 100^th anniversary of the composer’s death. However, it was postponed due to the spread of COVID-19.

There will be a total of eight performances through May 21, 2023.

Prior to the opening of the production, professor of musicology Annelies Andries, pianist David Zobel, and moderator Jasper Croonen will present a deep-dive into the score as part of the organization’s “Inside The Music” lectures.
