Kühne Foundation Extends Commitment to Salzburg Festival for Three More Years

By Nicolas Quiroga

The Kühne Foundation has announced that it will continue to sponsor the Salzburg Festival for at least three more years, until 2024.

The Foundation has been a main sponsor since 2019 and since 2013 the Kühne Foundation has provided additional support to the Young Singers project, which is a major platform for young international vocalists.

“This sponsorship gives security to the planning of the festival and we are very happy for the passion that Klaus-Michael and Christine Kuhne have for young singers, because it is an investment for the future, of art and culture,” said Helga Rabl-Stadler, the President of the Festival, in an official press statement.

“The cultural offerings of the Salzburg Festival at the highest level, exude a fascination that has long reached my foundation, which gives reason to become one of the main sponsors and partners of the Festival,” added Prof. Dr. Klaus-Michael Kühne, the president of the Foundation.

The Kühne Foundation supports opera houses and ensembles in various countries, including the Elbe Philharmonic and the Hamburg State Opera and the Lucerne Festival. The Foundation invests 30 million Swiss francs a year and in Kühne’s words “Foundations have a long tradition and have done a lot for society.”

The news comes days after Siemens extended its commitment to the festival as its main sponsor.
