Korean National Opera Announces Partnership With Korean Autism Love Association

The Korean National Opera has announced a partnership with the Korean Autism Love Association.

The partnership, which aims to expand the participation of people with disabilities in culture and the arts, as well as providing a means to improve the quality of life through the arts. To that end, there will be the exchange of human and material resources between the organization, as well as plans by the Korean National Opera to participate in campaigns to improve social awareness of autism in order to develop a more inclusive culture.

“Culture and art are important tools for breaking down social barriers, and autism should also be respected within the arts,” said Kim Yong-jik, the president of the Love Association, per an official press release.I hope that this agreement will be an opportunity to create positive changes in the lives of people with disabilities, including autism.”

The Korean National Opera has worked with the Suwon City Welfare Center for the Disabled in 2023 to present “Opera Journey.” The company also showcased the “Opera Education Program for the Developmentally Disabled” in 2024 to provide opportunities for those with disabilities to showcase their vocal talents. The company also presents a “barrier-free” version of its online performance showcases.
