The Korea National Opera will present “Museum Opera Gala II” on May 20 at 7 p.m. local time at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul.

The showcase will be presented against the backdrop of Damien Hirst’s installation art.

Soprano Yoon Sang-ah, mezzo-soprano Kim Jung-mi, tenor Kim Yo-han, and baritone Samuel Yoon headline the evening, with 20 members of the National Opera Studio Choir completing the ensemble. The program opens with the “Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves” from Verdi’s Nabucco and continues with standard repertoire including the “Jewel Song” from Gounod’s “Faust,” “Che gelida manina” from Puccini’s “La Bohème,” and the “Drinking Song” from Verdi’s “La Traviata.” Former MBC announcer Son Jung-eun will host.

The gala is part of a broader initiative by the Korea National Opera to extend the opera experience beyond the theater. The company also recently signed a business agreement with publishing house Munhakdongne to offer curated book selections tied to its regular season productions, with three titles chosen per performance to deepen audience engagement with each work’s themes.
