Kentucky Opera Announces New General Director & CEO
By David SalazarBen Robinson has been named the new General Director and CEO of Kentucky Opera, effective Nov. 11, 2025.
Robinson is a former Kentucky Opera Studio Artist and has worked as General Director of Anchorage Opera and Managing Director of Lyric Fest in Philadelphia. During his tenure in Anchorage, he created a concert conversation series that explored social issues through music, an initiative that aligns with Kentucky Opera’s its “Awakenings” series, which uses opera to bridge divides across the region. Other accomplishments include launching an artist development program, attracting new audiences, and securing one of the largest endowments in Anchorage Opera’s history.
“Returning to Kentucky Opera feels like coming full circle,” Robinson, who is also a director and singer, said per an official press release. “This company shaped my path as an artist, and I’m honored to help shape its future. Opera builds bridges and fosters dialogue, and Kentucky Opera is uniquely positioned to lead that work here.”
Robinson will introduce the company’s season-opening production of “La Traviata” on Nov. 11 and 13 at the Kentucky Opera Center for Cultural Health.
Earlier this year, the company announced that Peggy Kriha Miller would serve as the Interim General Director and CEO, taking over for Barbara Lynne Jamison, who departed the company to take on the role of General Director and CEO of Opera Colorado. Jamison was supposed to stay on with Kentucky Opera until 2028.
