
Karlsruhe Handel Festival Postpones Two Productions
By Francisco SalazarKarlsruhe Handel Festival has announced that it will be postponing two productions until 2022.
The German festival announced that productions “Tolomeo” and “Hercules” will be postponed and will be replaced by gala concerts featuring Ann Hallenberg and Jakub Józef Orliński. The Handel weekend will take place between Feb. 19 through the 21 2021.
In a press statement, General spokesman Peter Spuhler said, “Unfortunately, it is not possible to complete productions under the Coronavirus regulations.”
This is the latest festival that has been forced to change its 2021 festival plans. The Salzburg Easter Festival recently announced that it had to cancel its 2020 Turandot production and would be presenting the work in concert form.
Germany is currently undergoing a second wave of Coronavirus cased and recently reported 21,757, a record high for the country. The country recently closed all theaters for the month of November.
