The Savonlinna Opera Festival has unveiled its 2024 slate.

First up is Verdi’s “Nabucco.” Rodula Gaitanou conducts the production.

Performance Date: July 6 – 26, 2024

Tuomas Katajala and Sinead Campbell Wallace will play Lohengrin and Elsa in Wagner’s “Lohengrin” with Karita Mattila singing Ortrud and Lucio Gallo appearing as Telramund. Rounding out the cast is Timo Riihonen. The opera will be conducted by Stephan Zilias.

Performance Date: July 5 – 18, 2024

Andrea Sanguineti conducts Paul-Émile Fourny’s production of “Don Giovanni.” The opera stars Waltteri Torikka, Yuri Yurchuk, Mika Kares, Matti Turunen, Marjukka Tepponen, Frédéric Antoun, Annika Leino, Sonja Herranen, and Henning von Schulman.

Performance Date: July 10 – 26, 2024

Next up is “The Bartered Bride”  in a production by Alice Nellis.

Performance Date: July 27 – August 3, 2024

Calixto Bieito directs “Káta Kabanová.”

Performance Date: July 29 – August 1, 2024

There will also be a recital featuring pianist Peter Bence.
