Karine Deshayes, Michael Spyres, Sabine Devielhe, Franco Fagioli, & Anne Sofie von Otter Headline Opéra National du Rhin’s 2023-24 Season

First up is “Don Giovanni aux Enfers” by Simon Steen-Anderson. The opera is conducted by Basseem Akiki and directed by Simon Steen-Anderson. It stars Sandrine Buendia, Julia Deit-Ferrand, François Rougier, Christophe Gay, and Damien Pass, among others.
Performance Dates: Sept. 16 – 21, 2023
Sabine Devielhe stars in “Lakmé,” conducted by Guillame Tournaire and directed by Laurent Pelly. The opera also stars Julien Behr, Ambroisine Bré, Lauranne Oliva, and Raphaël Brémard.
Performance Dates: Nov. 2 – 28, 2023
“Le Journal d’Helène Berr” will be directed by Matthieu Cruciani and stars Adèle Charvet, pianist Jeanne Bleuse, and Quatuor Béla.
Performance Dates: Dec. 3, 2023 – Jan. 12, 2024
Nicola Porpora’s “Polifemo” will be conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm and directed by Bruno Ravella. It will star Franco Fagioli, Madinson Nonoa, Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian, Delphine Galou, Cassandr Wright, and José Coca Loza (in the title role).
Performance Dates: Feb. 5 – March 10, 2024
Harvey Schmidt’s “Les Fantasticks” will be directed by Myriam Marzouki and stars Ana Escudero, Jean Miannay, Bruno Khouri, Bernadette Johns, and Michael Karski.
Performance Dates: Feb. 18 – March 27, 2024
Michael Spyres, Johanni van Oostrum, Anaïk Morel, Josef Wagner, Edwin Fardini, and Timo Riihonen star in “Lohengrin.” Aziz Shokhakimov conducts and Florent Siaud directs.
Performance Dates: March 10 – April 10, 2024
Magnard’s “Guercœur” will be conducted by Anthony Fournier and Ingo Metzmacher. Christof Loy directs a cast starring Stéphane Degout, Catherine Hunold, Antoinette Dennefeld, Julien Henric, and Catherine Trottmann, among others.

L’Heure Lyrique
Performers from the Opéra Studio de l’Opéra du Rhin will perform as part of the “L’Heure Lyrique series.” First up is Fables de la Fontaine,” directed by Mathilde Waeber and choreographed by Jean-Gabriel Manoli.

Next up is “Opérettes Françaises.”

Then comes “Noël avel la Maîtrise” directed by Frédérique Atret and Luciano Biblioni. It features Les Petits Chanteurs de Strasbourg – Maîtrise de l’Opéra national du Rhin.

The Opéra Studio de l’Opéra national du Rhin will put on a performance centering the works of “Korngold.”

Soprano Clémence Baïz will perform in “Der Frühlung will kommen” alongside clarinetist Jérôme Salier and pianist Rémi Zeller.

The Opéra Studio de l’Opéra national du Rhin will put on a performance centering the music of Albéric Magnard.

Mezzo-soprano Fan Xie will lead an ensemble of artists in “Rêve d’amour.”
Performance Dates: June 22, 2024
The company will also feature its “Mecredis découverte” program which allows children ages 7-11 to learn about the different facets of the opera company including singing, lighting, art direction, props, dance, and makeup, among others.
They will also feature “Avec mon cousin” series for children ages 7-10.
