Justin Hopkins & Ashley Milanese to Headline Opera Southwest’s ‘Mosè in Egitto’

Opera Southwest will present Gioachino Rossini’s “Mosè in Egitto” this April.

The production will be showcased for three performances on April 19 -24, 2026 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Journal Theatre in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Bass-baritone Justin Hopkins, previously seen with the company as Bluebeard in 2023, takes on the title role. He is joined by soprano Ashley Milanese in her company debut as Elcia. Other cast members include Blake Friedman, Hans Tashjian, Ingela Onstad, and John Tiranno.

Anthony Barrese, the company’s Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, leads the production, directed by Keturah Stickann.

The production marks Opera Southwest’s 13th Rossini staging in 15 seasons.

Pre-performance talks take place 45 minutes before each performance.
