Juno Films has acquired the exclusive U.S. distribution rights for “La Scala: The Force of Destiny,” a new documentary by director Anissa Bonnefont.

Following the acquisition on Jan. 12, 2026, the distributor set up the film for its U.S. premiere on March 27, 2026, at the Quad Cinema in New York City, followed by a West Coast premiere on March 28 as part of the Laemmle Culture Vulture series. There is also a planned limited theatrical release.

The documentary follows the preparation of Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino,” which opened Teatro alla Scala’s 2024 season. Throughout the film, Bonnefont documents the rehearsal process leading up to the annual Dec. 7 season-opening performance, known as La Prima, featuring soprano Anna Netrebko, baritone Ludovic Tézier, and tenor Brian Jagde, under the direction of conductor Riccardo Chailly and stage director Leo Muscato.

“Anissa’s film is a tour de force in revealing how one of the world’s most acclaimed opera houses prepares for its annual premiere,” said Juno Films CEO Vondah Elizabeth Sheldon, per an official press release. “Watching the film brings the magic of opera to the big screen and provides a rare glimpse into what is required before the opening curtain.”

The distribution deal was negotiated by Sabine Chemaly on behalf of Paris-based sales company Ginger & Fed and Sheldon for Juno Films.

Juno Films is a U.S.-based boutique distributor whose recent releases include “That They May Face the Rising Sun,” “Housewife of the Year,” and Lasse Hallström’s “Hilma.”

Ginger & Fed, launched in 2023 by Federation Studios and Sabine Chemaly, represents French and European films for the international market.
