
Rihab Chaieb Set for LIFE Victoria Debut
By David SalazarMezzo-soprano Rihab Chaieb is set to her LIFE Victoria debut in a recital on Feb. 6, 2026, at the Sant Pau Recinte Modernista.
The program, titled “Combat Between East and West,” centers on contrasting musical perspectives drawn from Western composers influenced by Eastern traditions and traditional Arabic songs. The music featured includes works by Maurice Ravel, Camille Saint-Saëns, Georges Bizet, Louise Aubert, Henri Duparc, and Osvaldo Golijov, alongside traditional Arabic selections including Lamma Bada Yatathanna and Kelmti Horra.
Chaieb will appear alongside pianist Brian Zeger, Chair of the Vocal Arts Department at The Juilliard School.
Chaieb is a former member of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, where she appeared in productions of “L’italiana in Algeri,” “Luisa Miller,” “Cavalleria rusticana,” and “Hänsel und Gretel,” and later returned as a guest artist in “Don Giovanni.”
During the 2025–26 season, Chaieb is scheduled to appear with the Canadian Opera Company and the Bayerische Staatsoper, and will perform with the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya.
