The Aspen Music Festival and School has announced its 2021 summer season.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be squarely on opera or vocal concert performances.

Julia Bullock will appear alongside the Aspen Chamber Symphony in a program that features music by Bologne, Mozart, Delage, and Haydn. Nicholas McGegan conducts.

Performance Date: July 9, 2021

Julia Bullock will perform a recital alongside pianist John Arida. The duo will present several pieces by Schubert, Wolf, Weill, Berio, and Rossini, as well as arrangements by Jeremy Siskind.

Performance Date: July 13, 2021 

Star soprano Renée Fleming will perform alongside the Aspen Chamber Symphony and conductor Robert Spano in a program featuring music by Michael Abels, Maria Schneider, and Schumann.

Performance Date: July 16, 2021 

Golda Schultz will perform Barber’s “Knoxville: Summer of 1915” alongside conductor Benjamin Manis and the Aspen Chamber Symphony.

Performance Date: August 6, 2021

Soprano Esther Heideman will perform in a chamber music concert featuring music by Roberto Sierra, Still, and Gabriela Lena Frank.

Performance Date: August 14, 2021 

There will also be a concert featuring music by Mahler and Prokofiev performed by a soprano to be determined.

Performance Date: August 16, 2021

There will be several opera theater masterclasses led by Renée Fleming and conductor Patrick Summers running from July 3 through August 21, 2021.
