Juilliard Opera to Present ‘Dialogues des Carmélites’

By Francisco Salazar

Juilliard Opera is set to present Frances Poulenc’s “Dialogues des Carmélites” directed by Louisa Muller.

Students from all three vocal arts degree programs will perform in this new production, with Arnhold Creative Associate Matthew Aucoin, who is in residence at the school, conducting members of the Juilliard Orchestra in his Juilliard Opera debut.

The three-act opera, sung in French with English supertitles, was last presented at Juilliard in 2010 and features a cast of almost 50 singers. Each performance will feature a preconcert lecture, which is free for ticketholders.

The opera will be performed three times on April 23, 26 and 28 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater, The Juilliard School.

The April 26 performance will be live streamed and available to view at Juilliard’s official website.
