The Juilliard School Announces 2024-25 Season & First Annual ‘Juilliard Fall Festival’

The Juilliard School has announced its season for 2024-25, and the inaugural “Juilliard’s Fall Festival.”

This article only features vocal performances featured in these programs.

“Touching Magic: A Vocal Arts-Sibelius Academy Collaboration” kicks off the Fall Festival.

Performance Date: September 13, 2024 

Installments of Juilliard’s “Liederabend” take place throughout the season.

Performance Dates: October 9, November 13, & December 12, 2024, February 26, April 2 & 30, 2025

Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” is presented by Juilliard Opera and Orchestra. Mo Zhou serves as director and Patrick Furrer conducts.

“In this reimagined production of ‘Così fan tutte,’ set against the backdrop of 1967 San Francisco during the Summer of Love, we reframe the opera as a coming-of-age journey for four young lovers,” Zhou said in a press release regarding the production. “Collaborating with Juilliard students, I’ve aimed to bring a fresh lens to the problematic classical canon, emphasizing the humanity at the heart of the story while infusing it with social awareness. This production empowers young performing artists to connect deeply with their audience, embodying their roles as both artists and engaged citizens.”

Soprano Song Hee Lee stars in Juilliard415’s “Arias and Suites by Handel and Rameau.” William Christie directs.

Esther Liu Harris conducts the Pre-College Youth Chorus.

Performance Dates: January 25 & May 10, 2025

“Composer Spotlight: Jessie Montgomery,” focuses on the chamber music of Arnhold Creative Associate and alum Jessie Montgomery.

Performance Date: February 12, 2025

Juilliard Opera puts on Britten’s “The Turn of the Screw,” with members of the Juilliard Orchestra conducted by Zachary Schwartzman. Mary Birnbaum directs.

Performance Date: February 19, 21, & 23, 2025

The Juilliard Orchestra’s Ravel concert conducted by Louis Langrée features singers from the Ellen and James S. Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts.

Performance Date: February 20, 2025

Masaaki Suzuki conducts Juilliard415 with Yale Schola Cantorum in Bach’s “Actus tragicus,” BWV 106 and “Köthener Trauermusik,” BWV 244a.

Performance Dates: February 21 & 22, 2025

Vocal Arts “Honors Recital” is held, along with the two installments of “Third-Year Recitals,” and the “First-Year Songbook.”

“Our Future Voices: Music and Technology of the Americas” takes place in part of the Carnegie Hall Nuestros sonidos (Our Sounds) festival.

Vocal Arts perform on the “Wednesdays at One” concert series.

The “Creative Enterprise” series is set to feature “A Celebration of Meredith Monk.”

Juilliard Opera presents Poulenc’s “Dialogues des Carmélites,” featuring the Juilliard Orchestra led by Matthew Aucoin (Arnhold Creative Associate) and directed by Louisa Muller.
