Judit Kutasi Takes Over Two More ‘Adriana Lecouvreur’ Performances at the Teatro alla Scala

By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro alla Scala has announced more cast changes for its performances of “Adriana Lecouvreur” on March 9 and 10, 2022.

The company noted that Judit Kutasi will sing the role of the Princess de Boullion replacing Elena Zhidkova.

Kutasi recently replaced Anita Rachvelishvili for the March 6 performance after Rachvelishvili withdrew from several performances due to difficulties after her pregnancy.

Kutasi is a rising star who has performed at the Théâtre du Capitole, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Royal Opera House, Opernhaus Zurich, and Teatro alla Scala. Her repertoire includes the operas of Verdi, Wagner, Giordano, Ponchielli, and more.

On March 9, the mezzo joins a cast that includes Yusif Eyvazov, Maria Agresta, Alessandro Corbelli, and Carlo Bosi. The March 10 cast includes Agresta, Freddie De Tommaso and Ambrogio Maestri. Giampaolo Bisanti conducts the classic David McVicar production.

Zhidkova returns to the production on March 12 while Rachvelishvili is still scheduled to perform on March 16 and 19, 2022.
