The Teatro alla Scala has announced a cast change for “Adriana Lecouvreur.”

The company noted that Judit Kutasi will take over the March 6 performance in the role of Princess de Boullion. The news comes a day after Anita Rachvelishvili withdrew from several performances citing difficulties after her pregnancy.

Kutasi is a rising star who has performed at the Théâtre du Capitole, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Royal Opera House, Opernhaus Zurich, and Teatro alla Scala. Her repertoire includes the operas of Verdi, Wagner, Giordano, Ponchielli, and more.

The mezzo joins a cast that includes Yusif Eyvazov, Maria Agresta, Alessandro Corbelli, and Carlo Bosi. Giampaolo Bisanti conducts the classic David McVicar production.

Rachvelishvili is still scheduled to perform on March 16 and 19, 2022.
