Judit Kutasi & Maria Barakova Join Metropolitan Opera’s ‘La Forza del Destino’

Judit Kutasi and Maria Barakova are set to perform in the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of “La Forza del Destino.”

Kutasi and Barakova will sing the role of Preziosilla replacing the originally announced Ekaterina Semenchuk. Kutasi will perform on Feb. 26., March 1, 4, 9, 12, and 16, 2024 while Barakova will sing on March 21, 24, and 29, 2024

Kutasi will make her Met debut during the 2023-24 season and is a rising star who has appeared at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Opéra National de Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, and Zurich Opera, among others. Her repertoire includes the music of Giordano, Verdi, Ponchielli, Cilea, Wagner, Liszt, and Tchaikovsky, among others.

Barakova made her Met debut in 2022 in Shostakovich’s “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.” The Russian mezzo has performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera Muscat, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and the Mariinsky Theatre.

They will join a cast that includes Lise Davidsen, Elena Stikhina, Brian Jagde, Igor Golovatenko, Patrick Carfizzi, and Soloman Howard. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the new production by Mariusz Treliński.
