By Tano Factotum

Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez has released a new album, “Trialogando.”

The production celebrates the centennial of Chabuca Granda and the bicentennial of Peru’s independence. Chabuca Granda, one of the most famous Peruvian composers, and the author of Criollo waltzes such as “Bello Durmiente”, “José Antonio,” “Fina Estampa,” “Puente de los Suspiros,” and “La Flor de la Canela.”

For this special recording, Flórez and the guitarist Sergio Salas, aided by technology, were joined with the prerecorded version of “Dialogando,” the original album released in 1968. Chabuca Granda was accompanied by the renowned guitarist Óscar Avilés, known as the “First Guitar of Peru.” This album was also recorded in the same studio.

The first time that Juan Diego Flórez sang a duet with Chabuca Granda was at the opening ceremony of the Pan American Games in 2019. The ceremony was held at the National Stadium of Peru in Lima.

This special event was the inspiration for this album. The album is available on the Sinfonía por el Perú website.
