Joyce El-Khoury To Make Staatsoper Stuttgart Debut

The Staatsoper Stuttgart has announced a cast change for Gluck’s “Iphigénie en Tauride” as soprano Joyce El-Khoury will take over the title role.

El-Khoury will make her house debut as well her role debut in the upcoming run of Gluck’s opera. She recently sang at the Canadian Opera Company and at the Royal Albert Hall. She is set to perform at the Budapest Spring Festival in Liszt’s “Sardanapalo” and in the world premiere of Tobias Picker’s “Awakening” at the Opera Theatre Saint Louis. The soprano is also scheduled to sing Puccini’s “Le Villi” at the Opéra de Limoges.

El-Khoury joins a cast that include  Johannes Kammler, Mingjie Lei, Michael Mayes, and Carina Schmieger. Christopher Moulds conducts the production by Krzysztof Warlikowski.

Performances open on Feb. 4 and run through the 18, 2020.
