Joyce El-Khoury, Patricia Racette & Leah Hawkins Leads Dallas Opera’s ‘Dialogues of the Carmelites’

The Dallas Opera is set to announce the Dallas premiere of Francis Poulenc’s “Dialogues of the Carmelites.”

The opera will open on Nov. 7 and run until Nov. 15, 2025, in a production by Olivier Pys.

In a statement, Pys said, “This is not just a French story—it’s universal. The nuns teach to the world a lesson of dignity. It’s one of the most heartbreaking stories ever told with the most moving music ever.”

In a statement, TDO Kern Wildenthal General Director and CEO Ian Derrer said, “I am incredibly proud of the powerhouse cast we have assembled for this stunning production by Olivier Py. I am confident they will do justice to Poulenc’s galvanizing, poignant opera for its Dallas Opera premiere.”

The cast will include Joyce El-Khoury as Blanche, Patricia Racette as Madame de Croissy, Stéphanie d’Oustrac as Mother Marie, Leah Hawkins as Madame Lidoine, Deanna Breiwick as Sister Constance, Gretchen Krupp as Mother Jeanne, and Meridian Prall as Sister Mathilde.

Mrs. Eugene McDermott Music Director Emmanuel Villaume conducts The Dallas Opera Orchestra and Chorus in the original score, which will be sung in French with projected English supertitles. Led by Revival Director Daniel Izzo, this production is from Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
