The Opéra National de Montpellier has announced its 2024-25 season. Here is a look at the operatic performances.

Opera

Roderick Cox conducts a new production of Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino.” Yánnis Kókkos directs the production, which will feature Yunuet Laguna, Amadi Lagha, Stefano Meo, Vazgen Gazaryan, Leon Kim, and Éléonore Pancrazi.

George Jackson conducts Haydn’s “The Creation” with Emy Gazeilles, Maciej Kwaśnikowski, and Alexandre Baldo.

Performance Date: Nov. 16, 2024

Victor Jacob conducts Offenbach’s “Le Voyage dans la Lune” in a production by Olivier Fredj. Sheva Tehoval, Jennifer Michel, Marie Lenormand, Marie Perbost, Florent Karrer, Yoann Le Lan, Carl Ghazarossian, Thibaut Desplantes, and Christophe Poncet de Solages.

Performance Dates: Dec. 15-22, 2024

Cherubini’s “Médée” will be conducted by Jean-Marie Zeitouni and directed by Marie-Ève Signeyrole. Joyce El-Khoury, Julien Behr, Edwin Crossley-Mercer, Lila Dufy, and Marie-Andrée Bouchard-Lesieur star.

Performance Dates: March 8-13, 2025

Mozart’s “Mitridate, re di Ponto” is set to be conducted by Philippe Jaroussky. Emmanuelle Bastet directs the production which stars Levy Sekgapane, Hongni Wu, Key’mon Murrah, Marie Lys, Lauranne Oliva, Nicolò Balducci, and Remy Burnens.

Lyric Concerts 

Lucie Leguay conducts Puccini’s Mesa di Gloria with Hyoungsub Kim and Jean-Philippe Elleouët. The program also includes music by Mendelssohn.

Performance Date: Sept. 7, 2024

The company will present Midi Musical with the Chœur de l’Opéra.

Performance Date: Oct. 2, 2024

The company will present the Concert de Noël.

The second Midi Musical will feature the Chœur de l’Opéra.

The third Midi Musical will present “Chansons françaises d’après-guerre.”

Performance Date: March 21, 2025

The Chœur Opéra national Montpellier Occitanie performs a program of music by Poulenc, Bizet, Verdi, Puccini, and Mascagni.

Performance Date: April 6, 2025

The fourth Midi Musical will feature the Chœur de l’Opéra.

Performance Date: April 23, 2025

The Chœur Opéra national Montpellier Occitanie will perform a second concert.

Performance Date: April 27, 2025

Dorota Anderszewska, Hwanyoo Lee, Dominika Gajdzis, Cyrille Tricoire De Haro, Ye Chang Jung, and Rodolphe Bernard lead a program of music by Szokolay, Pergolèse, and Haydn.

Performance Dates: April 27 & 29, 2025

The company will present Concert des Lauréats.

The Carte blanche au Jeune Opéra will showcase pianist Valérie Blanvillain alongside the chorus.
