Teatro Massimo di Palermo has announced that it will livestream a performance of Verdi’s Messa di Requiem on April 18, 2021.

The performance was recorded on March 27, 2021 and will be showcased on the Teatro Massimo WebTV at 8 p.m. CET.

The performance will spotlight soprano Joyce El-Khoury, mezzosoprano Martina Belli, tenor Francesco Meli, and bass Riccardo Zanellato. Riccardo Muti will conduct the Orchestra del Teatro Massimo di Palermo. Ciro Visco is the Chorus Master.

The presentation of Verdi’s Requiem was initially planned for Dec. 4 & 5 2020 in the presence of a live audience but had to be postponed due to the lockdown in Italy. The scheduled presentation on March 27 will be performed without a live audience due to the current COVID-19 regulations in Italy.

The concert comes on the heels of the Teatro Massimo’s recent livestream gala starring Enea Scala and Angela Meade and “Ernani” with Eleonora Buratto and Giorgio Berrugi.
