Joseph Calleja To Perform In Opera Naples

By Francisco Salazar

Opera Naples is set to present a special black-tie-optional evening, including a concert and dinner featuring Joseph Calleja.

An Evening with Joseph Calleja will feature the tenor in his Opera Naples debut and maestro Ramón Tebar at the piano.

In a press statement, Tebar said, “I met Joseph Calleja five years ago at the Pablo Casals Festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where I was invited to conduct a concert. He was very happy with the concert, and we had an immediate connection, musically speaking. Since then, he has invited me to perform with him in many places, one of the most important being the invitation to conduct a concert at Buckingham Palace for Prince Charles. We have performed together at Royal Festival Hall in London, the Parthenon in Athens, in Germany, and in so many places, but this concert in Naples will be the first time that I’ll be playing the piano with him instead of conducting an orchestra.”

Tebar and Calleja have collaborated on many diverse projects, including Calleja’s latest album “Verdi” which was released to much acclaim in February 2018.

The evening will be held on March 21  at a private club on Naples’ Gulf of Mexico.
