Jonathan Tetelman & Miina-Liisa Värelä Win Big at 2026 Oper! Awards

The Oper! Awards have announced the 2026 winners.

The winners, which were announced on Feb. 24 saw Theater Regensburg win Best Opera House, while Jonathan Tetelman won Best Male Singer. Meanwhile, Miina-Liisa Värelä won Best Female Singer and Best Conductor won Gianluca Capuano.

Other winners included Barrie Kosky for Best Director while Erin Morley and Lawrence Brownlee won Best Solo Album for the “Golden Age.”

Best Director: Barrie Kosky

Best Chorus: Coro del Teatro alla Scala

Best World Premiere: “Il nome della rosa” by by Francesco Filidei, Teatro alla Scala di Milano

Best performance: “Hotel Metamorphosis” at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival

Best Stage Designer: Jo Schramm

Best Costume Designer: Cécile Trémolières

Best Solo Album: Erin Morley und Lawrence Brownlee: Golden Age (Pentatone)

Best Complete Edition: Donizetti Songs (Opera Rara)

Best Newcomer:  Nadezhda Karyazina

Best Rediscovery: “Die toten Augen” at the Theater Altenburg Gera

Best Future Project: Verdi OFF – Festival Verdi Parma

Best Festival: Opern-Uraufführung Rummelplatz at the Theater Chemnitz

Life Achievement: Jürgen Rose
