The Teatro Massimo di Palermo has announced its 2023-24 season.

Opera

The season opens with Bellini’s “I Capuleti e Montecchi.” Omer Meir Wellber conducts the production by Idan Cohen. The cast includes Maria Kataeva and Anna Pennisi as Romeo and Marina Monzó and Francesca Pia Vitale as Giulietta. Ioan Hotea, Mert Süngü, Marco Spotti, and Gabriele Sagona round out the cast.

Performance Dates: Nov. 22-28, 2023

Verdi’s “Rigoletto” will be conducted by Daniel Oren and will star Amartuvshin Enkhbat, Marco Caria, Ivan Ayon Rivas, Ioan Hotea, Giuliana Gianfaldoni, Caterina Sala, Alexei Kulagin, and Valeria Girardello.

Performance Dates: Jan. 20-28, 2024

Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” will star Maria Agresta and Valeria Sepe alongside Jonathan Tetelman, Ivan Magrì, Simon Mechliński, Lodovico Filippo Ravizza, Silvia Beltrami, and Irene Savignano.

Thomas Lebrun directs Bizet’s “Les pêcheurs de perle” with Dmitri Korchak, Federica Guida, Davide Luciano, and Ugo Guagliardo. Gabriele Ferro conducts.

Richard Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” will be conducted by Omer Meir Wellber and directed by Daniele Menghini. Stephen Gould and Nina Stemme star in the ttile roleswith Samuel Sakker and Allison Oakes lternating the leads. The cast also includes Violeta Urmana, Irene Roberts, Dmitry Beloselskiy, Maxim Kuzmin-Karavaev, and Andrei Bondarenko.

Alessandro Talevi directs Puccinis’ “Turandot” with Ewa Vesin in the title role. She will be joined Yusif Eyvazov, Martin Muehle, Juliana Grigoryan, Jessica Nuccio,  Giorgi Manoshvili, and Adolfo Corrado. Carlo Goldstein conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 21-29, 2024

Rossini’s “Elisabetta, Regina d’Inghilterra” is set to star Nino Machaidze, Enea Scala, Ruzil Gatin, Salome Jicia, Veronica Marini, and Martina Myskohlid. Antonino Fogliani conducts the production by Davide Livermore.
