Jonas Kaufmann, Renée Fleming, Christine Goerke, Joyce DiDonato, Eric Owens Lead Carnegie Hall’s 2021-22 Season

Carnegie Hall has announced its 2021-22 season featuring some of the world’s greatest artists. For the purpose of this article, we will only focus on the vocal works.

Here is the full slate:

Soprano Marija Jelic performs a recital alongside pianist Jasna Popovic.

Performance Date: Oct. 5, 2021

Tenor Jonas Kaufmann performs a wide repertoire alongside his long-term collaborator pianist Helmut Deutsch.

Performance Date: Oct. 9, 2021

Soprano Rachel Schutz gives a recital.

Performance Date: Nov. 8, 2021, 7:30 p.m. ET, Weill Recital Hall

Jessica Vosk performs “My Golden Age” alongside pianist Mary-Mitchell Campbell.

Performance Date: Nov. 8, 2021, 8 p.m. ET, Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage

The Cecilia Chorus of New York with Orchestra will perform at the Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage.

Performance Date: Dec. 10, 2021

Soprano Dawn Upshaw performs works by Talifero, Joachim, Shaw, and Treuting alongside pianist Gilbert Kalish and Sō Percussion.

Mezzo-soprano Solange Merdinian performs a recital at the Weill Recital Hall.

Vienna Boys Choir perform the concert “Christmas in Vienna.”

The Masterwork Chorus and Orchestra presents Handel’s “Messiah.”

Soprano Renée Fleming performs Previn and Stoppard’s “Penelope” in the New York premiere alongside the Emerson String Quartet and pianist Simone Dinnerstein. Uma Thurman will narrate.

Performance Date: Jan. 23, 2022

Soloists of La Capella Reial de Catalunya perform Monteverdi’s “Madrigali guerrieri et amorosi.” Jordi Savall conducts and plays the violin.

Performance Date: Feb. 22, 2022

Mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre performs works by Antonio Vivaldi. Ensemble Jupiter accompanies.

Performance Date: March 10, 2022

Tenor Mark Padmore presents works by Beethoven and Schubert alongside pianist Mitsuko Uchida.

Performance Date: March 13, 2022

Christine Goerke performs Marie and Bo Skovhus sings the title role in a concert performance of Berg’s “Wozzeck.” The cast also includes Sasha Cooke, Christopher Ventris, Mauro Peter, and Franz Hawlata. Andris Nelsons conducts the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

The event “Forgotten voices” spotlights sopranos Allison Charney and Adrienne Danrich, baritone Jesse Blumberg, and bass Mark Risinger.

Performance Date: March 31, 2022

Trinidadian soprano Jeanine De Bique presents songs by Ravel, Wolf, Richard Strauss, and Previn alongside pianist Gerold Huber.

Performance Date: April 2, 2022

Elza van den Heever performs Berg’s “Sieben frühe Lieder” and Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder alongside pianist Vlad Iftinca.

Performance Date: April 7, 2022, 7:30 p.m. ET, Zankel Hall

The performance of Bach’s “St Matthew Passion” stars soprano Carolyn Sampson, contralto Avery Amereau, tenors Julian Prégardien and Andrew Staples, bass-baritone Matthew Brook, and baritone Philippe Sly. Bernard Labadie conducts the Orchestra of St. Luke’s.

Performance Date: April 7, 2022, 8 p.m. ET, Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage

Soprano Jennifer Rowley, mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill, tenor Rodrick Dixon, and bass-baritone Eric Owens present Beethoven’s “Missa solemnis.” Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Lyndon Woodside Oratoria Solo Competition Finals will take place at the Weill Recital Hall.

Performance Date: April 9, 2022, 1:30 p.m. ET

National Concert Chorus & Orchestra takes place at the Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage.

Joyce DiDonato performs a wide-ranging program that cycles from Handel to Ives, Gluck to Mahler. Maxim Emelyanychev conducts Il Pomo d’Oro.

The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York Choral and Orchestral Programs take place at the Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage.

Countertenor Reginald Mobley performs Bach’s “Ich habe genug,” BWV 82. Bernard Labadie conducts the Orchestra of St. Luke’s.

Emily D’Angelo stars in the title role of Handel’s opera “Serse” alongside Lucy Crowe, Neal Davies, and Daniela Mack. Harry Bicket conducts.
