The Opernhaus Zürich has announced its 2026-27 season.

Premiere 

The season opens with Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” conducted by Tamo Peltokoski and Erina Yashima. The new production will be directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca and will star Magnus Dietrich, Tobias Kehrer, Regula Mühlemann, Jasmin Delfs, Johan Krogius, Brent Michael Smith, Kathrin Zukowski,  Alina Wunderlin, Yannick Debus, Andrew Moore, and Evan Gray.

Performance Dates: Sept. 20, 2026- April 23, 2027


Rachmaninow’s three operas, “Aleko,” “Skupoi Rytsar,” and “Francesca da Rimini,” will be performed in one night. Gianandrea Noseda conducts the production by Dmitri Tcherniakov. The production will star Elena Stikhina, Vladislav Sulimsky, Bekhzod Davronov, Ain Anger, Dominika Stefanska, Dmytro Popov, Pavel Yankovsky, Stanislav Vorobyov, and Alexey Dolgov.

Tanja Ariane Baumgartner, Miina-Liisa Värelä, Gabor Bretz, Sara Jakubiak, and John Daszak star in Strauss’ “Elektra.” Lorenzo Viotti conducts the production by Lydia Steier

Marina Monzó, Bekhzod Davronov, and Roman Burdenko star in Verdi’s “La Traviata” with Joana Mallwitz and Florian Gross conducting the new production by Christof Loy.

John Adams‘ “Doctor Atomic” will be conducted by Elim Chan and directed by Vanessa Beecroft. The production will star Leigh Melrose, Xiaomeng Zhang, Matthew Rose, Mauro Peter, Jeanine De Roque, and Yannick Debus.

Anja Kampe, Jonas Kaufmann, Tomasz Konieczny, and Martin Muehle star in Puccini’s “La Fanciulla del West.” Marco Armiliato conducts the production by Lydia Steier.

Marlena Kreßin, Joanna Lohmann, and Moritz Liebherr’s “Herr der Diebe” will be conducted by Andrea del Bianco and directed by Claudia Blersch. The work will star Ruben Drole, Irène Friedli, Liliana Nikiteanu, Felix Gygli, Valeriy Murga, and Anna Gschwend.

Mozart’s “Ascanio in Alba” will star Mélissa Petit, Alisa Kolosova, Anna El-Khashem, Anle Gou, and Eleonora Bellocci. Christophe Rousset conducts.

Händel’s “Rinaldo” will be conducted by Philippe Jaroussky and directed by Valentina Carrasco. The work will star  Christophe Dumaux, Jeanine De Bique, Regula Mühlemann, Nahuel Di Pierro, Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian, and Paul Figuier.

“Werckmeister Harmonien,” by Thom Luz, will be conducted by Mathias Weibel. The production by Luz will star Annalisa Derossi, Mara Miribung, Daniele Pintaudi, Samuel Streiff, and Mathias Weibel.

Donizett’s “L’elisir d’amore” will star Slávka Zámečníková, Anthony León, Andrew Moore, and Misha Kiria. Michele Spotti conducts the new production by Julia Lwowski.

Raphaël Pichon conducts “Requiem pour Ophélie” with Sabine Devieilhe and Huw Montague Rendall. The production will feature works by Fauré, Thomas and Berlioz.
