Fort Worth Opera has announced the launch of “FWO Green Room,” a digital initiative that comes as part of the company’s 75^th anniversary season and reimagined fall programming.

After a successful series of weekend masterclasses with Fort Worth Opera, soprano Jennifer Rowley will be holding an exclusive, six-week Virtual Audition Intensive, meant to prepare young opera singers for auditioning in the current digital landscape. The intensive will begin August 22, 2020, and run through September 26; it will be streamed on Fort Worth Opera’s Facebook page.

Topics will include vocal health, the audition circuit in Europe, and what makes an ideal video audition; Rowley will be joined by guests David and Francisco Salazar of OperaWire and La Cuarta Productions.

Additional classes with Rowley will discuss young artist programs, mainstage auditions, international competitions, finding management, and will feature a live audition panel of leading industry professionals. Opera San Antonio General and Artistic Director E. Loren Meeker is also set to hold a masterclass.

On the week of August 17, FWO will also launch “Festival Artists Online,” the company’s digital platform for at-home concerts and virtual discussions, featuring artists such as Martin Bakari, Vanessa Becerra, Emily Fons, Devon Guthrie, Abigail Levis, Curt Olds, Luis Alejandro Orozco, Donovan Singletary, Efrain Solis, and Talise Trevigne. Performances and discussion topics will be announced on FWO’s website in the upcoming weeks.

“FWO Green Room” will also include the return of their new works showcase “Frontiers” with a twist, presenting it as “Frontiers: FWO Libretto Workshop.” This two-night exploration of storytelling will feature Pulitzer Prize-winning librettist Mark Campbell among a panel of prominent librettists, directors, and singers. Further details, along with a call for submissions, will be announced later.

Finally, FWO Chorus will be presenting a choral performance from a 20^th Century American composer, led by their new Chorus Master Alfrelynn Roberts. In the weeks leading up to the performance, choristers will be highlighted on the company’s social media platforms, with more information on the program to be announced.
