Jean Louis Grinda Stepping Down from the Chorégies d’Orange

Jean Louis Grinda is stepping down from the Chorégies d’Orange ⁦after 10 years. 

According a press release the director cited a reduction in the scope of programming due to a lack of funds.

Richard Galy, president of the Chorégies said that the event was fragile and vulnerable with its small team at the mercy of the weather and cancellations.

Grinda led the festival for 10 years. He is has been manager and stage director at the Opéra de Wallonie in Liège and of the Opera in Monte-Carlo.

This past season the Chorégies d’Orange presented “Il Trovatore” with Anna Netrebko and “La Forza del Destino” with Anna Pirozzi. The festival also presented Mozart’s Requiem and a concert with Renaud Capucon.
