Javier Camarena’s Second Barcelona Recital Canceled

By Francisco Salazar

The Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona has canceled Javier Camarena’s second recital.

The theater announced that “due to mobility restrictions arising from the COVID-19 crisis, the concert on Jan. 19 is canceled.” Box Office will contact ticket holders in order to relocate them, or audiences can request a refund or exchange it for another concert.

However, the concert hall did announce that the Jan. 18 recital will still take place and perform a program of works by Donizetti, Jimenez, and Tosti, among others. Ángel Rodríguez will accompany the tenor.

The recital is the latest cancelation or postponement for Camarena’s Spain tour. His Zaragoza recital was postponed until June due to Storm Filomena, which cause chaos around the country for historic snowfalls. Camarena concludes his Spain tour in Bilbao on Jan. 21, 2021.
