Javier Camarena is set to received La Medala Bellas Artes 2019 at the Palacio Bella Artes.
The Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura announced that the Mexican tenor will receive the prestigious award on Dec. 4, 2019.
Camarena is currently in Madrid where he made Madrid history during a performance of “L’ELisir d’Amore” when he gave an encore. The tenor will also open a new production of Bellini’s “Il Pirata,” making his role debut as Gualtiero in Madrid.
The tenor is having one of the most important years of his career as he was recently named one of OPERA NEWS magazine winners for 2020 alongside Thomas Allen, Diana Damrau, Ana María Martínez and Anthony Roth Costanzo.
