Opera singer Janice Baird has launched a GoFundMe for her husband who is experiencing an inoperable cancer.

The soprano wrote on the campaign, “Hi, my name is Janice, and my sweet husband Lothar has been diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus that has metastasized to his liver and lymph and now has a very large tumor on his foot. The original cancer is inoperable; they have removed the large tumor in his foot. He needs medication to ease his pain and perhaps slow down this awful disease. It is not covered by insurance, and doctors don’t prescribe it here in Germany.”

The soprano continued, “We need to travel to get this medicine, which is beyond our financial means. I am hoping that some kind people will help Lothar. This will make him more comfortable and could give him a little more time. I mainly want him to be more comfortable. We both appreciate anything that you might be able to spare. Baird, who has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Greek National Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, and Teatro La Fenice, is looking to raise 15,000 Euros and as of this writing has already obtained over 8,000 Euros.
