Great Performances on PBS has announced two essential presentations.

First up, the organization will broadcast a performance of Leonard Bernstein’s Kaddish Symphony. The showcase will feature Uniting Voices, the Chicago Symphony Chorus, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under conductor and Bernstein protégé Marin Alsop. Janai Brugger appears as the soprano soloist.

The performance, which was recorded in July 2022, will feature narration by Jaye Ladymore.

Broadcast Date: August 21, 2023 at 9 p.m. ET

That will be followed up by a presentation of “Great Performances: Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert. That showcase, which was conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, stars mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča as she performs music by Bizet, Gounod, and Saint-Saëns.

This performance took place at the Schönbrunn Palace Gardens.
