Jacquelyn Wagner & Eric Cutler Lead Dutch National Opera’s New ‘Fidelio’

By Francisco Salazar

The Dutch National Opera is set to present a new production of Beethoven’s “Fidelio” as part of the Holland Festival.

The new production will be directed by Ukrainian director Andriy Zholdak, whose visual imagery, replete with symbols, is reminiscent of great film directors such as Andrei Tarkovsky and Ingmar Bergman. The production is made in Co-production with the Grand Théâtre de Genève.

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will be led by Colombian-Austrian conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada and the opera will star Jacquelyn Wagner and Eric Cutler.

They will be joined by James Creswell, Nicholas Brownlee, Anna El-Khashem, and Linard Vrielink.

“Fidelio” opens on June 5 and runs through June 29, 2024.
