Jacobs School of Music’s 2018-19 Season Kicks Off With ‘The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs’

The Jacobs School of Music is one of the major conservatories around the US, the opera program often showcasing a wide range of works throughout the season.

This year is no different with five opera offerings and a work to commemorate Leonard Bernstein’s centennial celebration.

The season kicks off on Sept. 14, 2018, with a production of “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs,” which will be conducted by Michael Christie, who also conducted the world premiere of the work. Kevin Newbury, also a part of the world premiere, will direct.

Performance Dates: Sept. 14, 15, 21, 22 (2018)

The opera season continues with a production “Dialogues des Carmélites” which will be conducted by Rani Calderon and directed by Francesca Zambello.

Performance Dates: Oct. 12, 13, 19, 20 (2018)

The holiday season will also feature “Hansel and Gretel” with Arthur Fagen conducting and Michael Shell directing.

Performance Dates: Nov. 2, 3,4, 16, 17 (2018)

Handel’s “Giulio Cesare” gets a production in February with Gary Wedow conducting and Robin Guarino directing.

Performance Dates: Feb. 1, 2, 8, 9 (2019)

Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” will get a showcase with David Neely at the podium and Linda Brovsky directing the production.

Performance Dates: Feb. 22, 23, March 1, 2 (2019)

The season draws to a close with Leonard Bernstein’s “Mass,” which will be conducted by Constantine Kitsopoulos and directed by Candice Evans.

Performance Dates: April 5, 6, 12, 13 (2019)
