Iulia Isaev Replaces Sondra Radvanovsky in Metropolitan Opera ‘Tosca’ Performance

By Francisco Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its performance of “Tosca” on Dec. 18, 2021.

The company noted that “the role of Tosca will be performed by Iulia Isaev, replacing Sondra Radvanovsky.”

Isaev made her Met debut in 2019 when she stepped in for Jennifer Rowley as Tosca. The Romanian soprano has recently performed at the Bucarest National Opera in productions of “Pagliacci” and “Otello.” She has also sung in productions of “Lohengrin” and “Eugene Onegin.”

The soprano joins a cast that includes Brian Jagde and George Gagnidze. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the evening’s performance.

The performance marks the final show in the December run. “Tosca” returns to the Met stage in January with a new cast that includes Elena Stikhina, Joseph Calleja, and George Gagnidze.
