Iulia Isaev To Make Metropolitan Opera Debut As ‘Tosca’

Iulia  Isaev will make her Metropolitan Opera debut on March 18, 2019, singing the title role of “Tosca.”

The Metropolitan Opera announced that due to illness Jennifer Rowley would not be able to sing the opening performance.

Isaev is a Romanian soprano who has recently performed at the Bucarest National Opera in productions of “Pagliacci” and “Otello.” She has also sung in productions of “Lohengrin” and “Eugene Onegin.” She is also slated to sing the role of Alice Ford in “Falstaff” later this season. 

Isaev joins Joseph Calleja and Wolfgang Koch in the performance which will be conducted by  Carlo Rizzi.

Rowley is slated to return for the March 23 performance and sing through April 6, 2019.
