Israeli Opera Cancels Current Performances

By Francisco Salazar

The Israeli Opera has canceled all current performances.

The company said that it will soon decide on further postponements and/or rescheduled events.

The news comes as all major Israeli orchestras and concert venues are canceling performances following the terrorist attack by Hamas and the declaration of war by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The company was set to present “Hanoch Levin – The Opera” this month as well as a production of “Lucia di Lammermoor” in November.

The news comes two days after the company said, “Due to the situation, customer service is operating in a limited capacity. For urgent inquiries please send an email to the email [email protected]. Existence / non-existence of shows will be posted before each show. Hoping for quieter days, The Israeli Opera.”

OperaWire will continue to update audiences as more information becomes available.
