iSing Silicon Valley Announce ‘Winter Hymns’ Performances

By Afton Wooten

iSing Silicon Valley is set to present two holiday concerts in early December.

The concerts will feature the world premiere performances of “Winter Hymns,” the choir’s commission from Shara Nova, who will be in attendance at the final concert. The work is scored for treble voices, viola, and harp, with words and music by Nova. Audiences will also hear Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols.”

The performers are joined by harpist Jieyin Wu and violist Lesley Robertson.

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Palo Alto and Triton Museum of Art host the concerts on Dec. 2 and 3, respectively.

iSing Silicon Valley was founded in 2013 by artistic directors Jennah Delp Somers and Shane Troll. Earlier this year, the choir of more than 300 young singers won the World Choir Championship at the World Choir Games in S. Korea. Also this year, the choir released a recording titled “Love & Light,” recorded by Avie Records.
