Isabel Leonard Named Asheville Symphony’s 2026 Artist in Residence

Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard will take on a week-long residency with the Asheville Symphony from March 16–23, 2026.

The GRAMMY Award-winning vocalist will lead “A Celebration of Voice” which showcases the beauty, versatility, and storytelling power of vocal music through a diverse slate of performances, educational engagements, and community experiences.

As part of the residency Leonard and pianist John Arida will give a recital featuring selections by Garcia-Lorca, Montsalvatge, Bizet, traditional Spanish songs, and more. Also, Leonard will solo in the Symphony’s “Masterworks 5” concert featuring Barber’s “Knoxville: Summer of 1915,” highlights from West Side Story, plus works by Georges Bizet, Manuel de Falla, and Gabriela Lena Frank, among others.

The week will also include events such as, “Artist Residency: A Celebration of Voice Kickoff” and “Artist Residency Benefit.”
