Irina Churilova Replaces Virginia Tola At Teatro Regio Di Parma

Virigina Tola has canceled her performances of “Un Ballo in Maschera” at the Teatro Regio di Parma.

The theater announced that Tola would not be able to perform the role of Amelia. As a result, the role of Amelia will be performed by Irina Churilova on Jan. 12, 16, 18, and 20.

This season Churilova is set to perform the title role of “Norma” at the Opera Graz, “Aida,” Elisabetta in “Don Carlos,” Liù in “Turandot,” Marguerite in “Faust,” Amelia in “Simon Boccanegra” at the Mariinsky Theatre, and “Aida” at the Novosibirsk Opera. She will also be at the Grand Théâtre de Genève for “Un Ballo in Maschera.” 

Churilova joins Saimir Pirgu, Leon Kim, Laura Giordano, and Silvia Beltrami in a production by Marina Bianchi. Sebastiano Rolli conducts. The second cast of the opera stars Otar Jorjikia, Sergio Bologna, and Isabella Lee.
 
According to Operabase, Tola’s next appearances are scheduled for November at the Teatro Colón for “Les Contes d’Hoffmann.”
