International Contemporary Ensemble Announces 2023-24 Season

International Contemporary Ensemble has announced its 2023-24 Season.

In October, the Ensemble will present a George Lewis Portrait Concert. On the program is the U.S. premiere of Lewis’ “H. narrans” (2020), a work for voice and chamber ensemble.

Performance Date: Oct. 5, 2023

A performance of John Cage’s series of compositions titled “Ryoanji,” inspired by the Zen rock garden at the Ryoanji temple in Kyoto, will be given. Soprano Maki Ota is the featured vocalist.

Performance Date: Oct. 21, 2023

The Ensemble will give the world premiere of “Mirrors” by Adegoke Steve Colson. “Mirrors” is scored for octet with voice. Also on the program is a version of Wendell Logan‘s “Runagate, Runagate” (1990) for tenor and chamber ensemble. The program also features works for ensemble.

Performance Date: Nov. 1, 2023

Tomomi Adachi’s “Noh-opera / Noh-tation: Decoding John Cage’s Unrealized Project” will feature multidisciplinary vocalist Gelsey Bell.

Performance Date: Nov. 16, 2023

“Composer Portraits: Carola Bauckholt” features four works by the composer. The 2014 composition “Membran” for voice and piano will be presented along with instrumental music.

Performance Date: Feb. 8, 2024
